If you've ever said “I'm fine” while quietly running on empty — if you've poured everything into the people you love and looked up one day unsure where you went — I want you to know that I see you. I've been you.
For more than ten years, I cared for patients as a respiratory therapist, showing up in the hardest, most frightening moments of people's lives. Then caregiving followed me home. I became the spouse caring for her husband while trying to juggle all of it — the appointments, the worry, the everyday weight of holding a family together — and somewhere in the day-to-day, I got lost.
I had quietly made a deal with myself: as long as my husband and my child were okay, then I was okay. Their needs were the measure of everything. Mine could wait. They always waited.
It took real work — and a lot of relearning — to understand that taking care of myself wasn't taking away from the people I love. It was the only way to keep showing up for them without falling apart.
That's the heart of why I do this. I've stood on both sides — the caregiver at the bedside and the spouse losing herself at home — and I know how invisible you can become, even to yourself.
You don't have to disappear to be a good caregiver. You can show up fully for the people you love and stay whole in the process. I'd be honored to walk that road with you.
